PURE SILENCE
The noise level of a tyre is a key factor in driving comfort. The new Hakkapeliitta R5 is a friction tyre with a quiet, comfortable and stable sound profile. Distracting noise peaks that can be picked out by the human ear have been eliminated and the new Silent Touch pattern has a new distribution of patterned patches for a comfortable and pleasant rolling experience.
PURE ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS
The Hakkapeliitta R5 is a durable, comfortable and highly energy-efficient winter tyre. The lighter rolling action saves fuel and extends the range of electric vehicles. The Hakkapeliitta R5 is designed with material choices that reduce the tyre's carbon footprint. The tyre's excellent winter performance, higher mileage and low rolling resistance are ensured by the new Green Trace compound. Hakkapeliitta R5's environmentally friendly driving characteristics are based on raw materials such as natural rubber, recycled steel, vegetable oils and pine resin. More than a third of the new compound is made from renewable and recycled materials.
UNFAILING GRIP ON ICE AND SUPERIOR HANDLING
The microscopic Arctic Grip Crystals mixed into the surface rubber of the Hakkapeliitta R5 act like built-in studs, creating sharp and durable grip edges in the rubber. As the tyre wears, the particles emerge and act as a much-needed grip reserve.
The Hakkapeliitta R5's superior grip and handling is based on the new Double Block Grip design, which is particularly evident in the shoulder areas of the tyre. The rigid row of patterned blocks starts in the centre and continues katha towards the shoulder areas. The 40% has more pattern blocks in the shoulder and intermediate areas of the tyre compared to its predecessor, which means there is more rubber in contact with the road surface in the contact area. This means that the tyre's grip on slippery surfaces is improved.
PATENTED SAFETY
The patented Winter Safety Indicator (WSI) on the tread of the Hakkapeliitta R5 further enhances the tyre's safety. The snowflake symbol shows the remaining tread in millimetres. The symbol remains visible until four millimetres of tread remain. At the point where the snowflake symbol has worn off, the purchase of new winter tyres is recommended.
